One such organisation to benefit from funding from Te Tai Pari was the Waitara Taiohi Trust. It received $10,000 to assist in operational costs and wages, and Jared Dixon, who manages the Trust, said the funds were invaluable.
“The grant supported the Waitara Taiohi Trust’s mission to empower the youth of Waitara as confident, capable, community members. The funding covered operational costs which enabled the Trust to deliver Youth Programs, cover costs for diverse programs fostering skills, leadership and belonging, support key staff, fund wages for the operations manager and youth workers who mentor and guide Taiohi.”
During the 2024 year, the Trust ran eight programs, which engaged 498 taiohi. Impressively, more than 90% attended on more than three occasions. Ninety-four percent of participants reported increased confidence and belonging.
Further the Trust collaborated with 26 community organisations, strengthening resources and program reach.
