Te Tai Pari was formed as part of the New Plymouth District Council (Waitara Lands) Act 2018. A Board of six has made annual distributions to community organisations since 2023.
Elevating Waitara’s Independence
Te Tai Pari exists to enhance and enable the rohe of Waitara to become more stable and self-reliant. Funding is provided to numerous parts of the community, including social, environment, education, arts, culture, heritage, sports and recreation. It also provides a greater understanding of the Waitara hapu.

who & what we fund
We are a board of six members, with three each appointed by the New Plymouth District Council and Te Kōwhatu Tū Moana. We fund a variety of organisations based in Waitara.

our history
Te Tai Pari was formed as part of the New Plymouth District Council (Waitara Lands) Act 2018. We have an Investment Portfolio worth over $20M from which a calculated amount of income can be distributed annually.

The Waitara lands act
The New Plymouth District Council (Waitara Lands) Act 2018 established the Te Tai Pari Board (previously the Te Tai Pari Trust). The purpose of the Board is to distribute the annual release from the Waitara Perpetual Community Fund for each financial year.
