Te Tai Pari funding greatly assisted year seven and eight students from St Joseph’s School in Waitara to attend a sports camp at Totara Springs near Matamata in August 2024.
School principal, Rachael Gibbons, said that the support was critical in ensuring that all the students could attend. “The sports camp in Matamata not only met but exceeded our goals, providing our Tamariki with a memorable experience that will have lasting benefits for their physical, mental and emotional well-being.”
This was achieved through five specific outcomes:
- Promoting physical fitness and teamwork
- Exposure to new sports to enhance Hauora
- Reducing barriers to participation
- Accessibility for lower socio-economic backgrounds
- Reducing anxiety and creating a supportive environment
