Twenty-one organisations have benefited from the latest round of funding provided by Te Tai Pari. Cumulatively, $308,036.28 was awarded, the largest amount awarded in the four years since the fund commenced distributions.
The fund was established as part of the Waitara Lands Act and the community is now starting to see the value of Te Tai Pari, Board chairman Darrel Nicholas said.
“Last year we undertook consultation with the community in terms of what they are looking for from the fund. Those considerations have been including in our decisions and are reflected in this year’s allocations.”
It is anticipated that the annual distributions will eventually reach $1,000,000, with the overall fund now worth more than $22,000,000.
